Programs

Some amazing things happen at Alaqua Animal Refuge, but our mission goes beyond our gates.

We believe in being a vital, productive community partner, through our varied programs. If you are interested in more details about our programs, please contact us today.

S.N.A.P. (Spay Neuter Assistance Program): As part of our community outreach initiative, this program offers low- or no-cost spay and neuter procedures to income-qualified residents of Walton County, Fla. Each year, we spay or neuter 2,000 dogs and cats through this program. If you are interested in  S.N.A.P., please download the application here, or call us at (850) 880-6399. For further details please download this informative brochure.

Guardian Angel: Among the hundreds of abused, neglected and homeless animals we rescue each year, several are challenged with disabilities or injuries. It’s one of the many efforts that makes our refuge different. The Guardian Angel program offers the opportunity for supporters to direct funds to these animals, helping us provide specialized and often life-saving medical care.

Partners – a Senior Citizen/Special Needs Pet Program: Through Partners, senior citizens in need of a companion animal or a special-needs individual requesting an animal for service or companionship can apply to adopt, with a waived fee. Participants are given the Alaqua Animal Refuge Partners Promise: If you are no longer able to care for your Patners pet, we will accept the animal with open arms, and provide it with shelter and love until the perfect adopter comes along, no matter if it takes days, months or years.

Alaqua Animal Refuge operates entirely on donations and private funding. Please join us today and provide shelter, safety and second chances to animals in need.
